- Math Is Not Difficult ®

A reform-based program that uses innovative teaching strategies to
eliminate fear of math and make learning fun.

Project MIND offers the following opportunities for partnerships:

  • Across the country, there are low-performing schools that need help with improving student's math abilities and performance on standardized tests. Project MIND seeks partners to support Phase I and Phase II training and program implementation at these low-performing schools.
  • Project MIND is most successful when the entire school becomes math-sensitive and math-friendly. The school incorporates math into all aspects of school life and all subject areas, while using Project MIND strategies on a daily basis. These schools are called Project MIND Full-School Implementation Sites. At these sites, Project MIND staff provides on-going technical assistance, a series of classroom demonstration workshops, parent workshops, and refresher workshops for teachers throughout the year. Support is needed to develop Project MIND Full-School Implementation Sites in your community.
  • Each year, Project MIND hosts a conference that features students who participate in mental math competitions and in designing math games, puzzles, and brain teasers. Support is needed to underwrite the cost to host this annual event, which has been highly successful over the past seventeen years.

Project MIND offers the following opportunities for partnerships:

  • In Broward County, there are 12 elementary schools that scored Level 1 on Florida's 2001 FCAT standardized test. Support is needed to provide Project MIND training at these and other low-performing schools.
  • In Miami-Dade County, there are 13 charter schools managed by the Academica Corporation that have implemented Project MIND at their school sites.
  • Another Academica charter school, Somerset Academy, has been using the Project MIND curriculum for the past 5 years. This school ranked #1 out of 1,666 elementary and charter schools on the 2000 FCAT math standardized test.
  • In Palm Beach County, there are two schools that would like to immediately implement Project MIND: the JFK Charter School and The Village Academy. The Village Academy scored in the lowest 5% statewide on their 2002 FCAT math scores and is eager to receive training in Project MIND strategies.

The Palm Beach County School Board has voted to implement Project MIND in all public elementary schools over the next 3 years; however, there is an immediate need to provide training for staff at the lowest performing schools, including three "F" rated and eleven "D" rated elementary schools.
